News & Offers from Elterwater Hostel
Use code IHUK2025 for up to 23% discount on stays in Elterwater Hostel’s Ensuite Family Room: The Perfect Base for Family Adventures in the Lakes
July 15th 2025
Looking for a comfortable, affordable, and family-friendly base in the heart of the Lake District? Elterwater Hostel might just be the perfect spot, especially with its upgraded ensuite family room, designed with young explorers (and their grown-ups!) in mind.
Tucked away in the picturesque Langdale Valley, Elterwater Hostel is a haven for walkers, cyclists, and families alike. The hostel’s family ensuite room offers private accommodation for up to four people, with a double bed and 3 bunk beds and an ensuite bathroom.
“We wanted to create a space that makes families feel at home,” says the Hostel Manager. “Having your own bathroom and a little more privacy makes a real difference, especially after a busy day out on the fells.”
Guests can enjoy a hearty cooked breakfast every morning and join us for a home cooked evening meal or have access to a well-equipped self-catering kitchen, cosy communal lounge, drying room, and bike storage, everything you need for a comfortable and flexible stay. With a host of gentle valley walks and more ambitious fell routes right from the door, it’s a great base whether you’ve got toddlers or teens.
And all this comes without the hefty price tag of many Lake District hotels or holiday cottages. Elterwater Hostel is proud to remain an affordable option with a year round discount of between 15% – 20% (depending on the make up of your family) for families looking to experience the natural beauty, outdoor fun, and slower pace of life that the Lakes have to offer.
Throughout this July and August using code IHUK2025 will give you an extra 10% discount on a minimum 2 night stay -giving a total discount of over 23%.

July 8th 2025
Nestled in the heart of the Lake District, Elterwater Hostel is the perfect base for anyone keen to explore the area’s stunning wild swimming spots. Just two minutes from our door, the crystal-clear waters of Great Langdale Beck offer a refreshing dip after a day on the fells. For those wanting to venture further, Stickle Tarn and Blea Tarn provide dramatic mountain backdrops for an unforgettable swim, while the gentle shores of Grasmere and Rydal Water promise scenic, more leisurely bathing.
After an early sunrise swim, there’s nothing better than returning to the hostel for a hearty cooked breakfast to set you up for the day. We’ve also thought of the practicalities – our large sink and drying room are perfect for rinsing and drying swim kit, helping to protect our beautiful lakes and rivers.
Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or just curious to try a wild dip, our friendly team is always on hand with local tips and secret spots to share.
Come and make Elterwater Hostel your home-from-home as you dive into the magic of wild swimming in the Lakes!
