News & Offers from Comrie Croft
Stay in a Gold Green Tourism Award hostel!
June 24th 2022
Comrie Croft has been a long term eco hostel. In their own words, “All of our power and heat is generated onsite from renewable sources (wood for the heating, solar for the electricity), and at least 93% of our “waste” is reused or recycled, we have achieved a gold award in the Green Tourism Business Scheme and are members of the world’s leading eco tourism businesses as part of the Long Run Initiative.”
But what they hope really makes them stand out is the core purpose of the whole enterprise and the way it runs through everything they do. They aim to help transform the local area in community, social, economic and environmental terms through symbiotic, eco tourism, enterprise and land management.

A perfect rural retreat for mountain bikers, hikers, families and backpackers, just over an hour from Edinburgh & Glasgow. The 4* hostel offers cosy, home style rooms, a Tea Garden café, bike shop and lots of grin enducing mountain bike trails
It seems to be all going on at Comrie Croft. A quick wander through their social media shows them supporting all sorts of local businesses and green initiatives. This matches well with their description of themselves as an ‘Eco-campsite’. This page of their website gives all sorts of detail that I can’t afford space for here – but suffice it to say, “Hat’s Off” to them and their ideals, and no doubt they deserve all the green tourism tags at the foot of their website.
As far as accommodation is concerned, Comrie Croft offers 3 different buildings which can be let by individuals or groups. They’re all cosy, clean and well reviewed by visitors (the vast majority gave 5 stars on TripAdvisor). Spend some time browsing their photo gallery and you’ll see why.
If Mountain Biking’s your thing then this might be a real find, with MTB trails right here on your doorstep.
