Rural Hostel in Cambrian Mountain countryside

Tyncornel Hostel is a remote former farmhouse in the hills, with a cosy wood-burning stove.

Favoured by walkers, cyclists, bird watchers and lovers of solitude it is in the beautiful Doethie valley on the Cambrian Way long distance footpath.

There are comfortable wooden bunk beds and good self-catering facilities. You can enjoy the wild open moorlands of the Elenydd uplands and you can walk the old drovers' road to Dolgoch Hostel.

Other attractions include the Cors Caron National Nature Reserve, the Red Kite Centre and museum in Tregaron, Teifi Pools, Llyn Brianne reservoir, Dolaucothi Roman gold mines, Strata Florida Abbey and the National Trust's Llanerchaeron country house.

A new spacious new Shepherd’s Hut was opened in spring 2023. Its position in the garden provides stunning views across the beautiful Doethie valley to the surrounding hills. The hut offers self-contained accommodation for small groups (3 adults, or a family of four with two children). It has its own living space, kitchenette and shower/toilet room.

Easter at Tyncornel in the Mid-Wales countryside

March 5th 2024

Tyncornel hostel and the surrounding area look at their best in the Spring sunshine ! There is still lots of room to book for Easter or other dates in the spring either in the hostel or the shepherd’s hut.

Tyncornel hostel is a good place to visit in the spring when the leaves are coming out on the hedges and there are lambs in the fields and primroses in the garden. Book to stay in the hostel (dormitory or private room) or in our self-contained shepherd’s hut. Enjoy the views from our South facing terrace and have a walk down the beautiful Doethie Valley (show on the photo).

Autumn at Tyncornel

September 27th 2023

Now that the nights are drawing in and the weather is getting colder, Tyncornel is a welcoming place to visit.

Arriving at Tyncornel after dark, you will see the only lights for miles around. The hostel is waiting to welcome you for an autumn visit. Inside the wood burning stove makes the common room very cosy. Outside, the leaves and bracken are changing colour, looking very attractive when you go walking. If the sky is clear, the hostel is a great place for looking at the stars.
