Cycling The Great North Trail through the Peak District.

August 19th 2022

As The Great North Trail stretches through the Peak District, Pindale Farm is a beautiful location to rest for the night.

Pindale Farm Outdoor Centre is situated in the Peak District, where the White Peak meets the Dark Peak. White Peak and Dark Peak are named after their opposing geology. The White Peak is capped with white-grey limestone meaning exposed rock is light in colour whereas the Dark Peak is made of Millstone Grit Sandstone meaning the protruding rocks are much darker. The difference in geology explains the contrasting landscapes between the two areas; the White peak is characterised by it’s gentler peaks and troughs whilst the Dark Peak is much more rugged and unforgiving.

Whilst walking the Great North Trail through the Peak District, you can marvel in the changing landscapes and underlying geology. Situated between the two sides of the Peak District is Pindale Farm Outdoor Centre, the perfect overnight stop during your journey.

Pindale Farm has a multiple bunkhouses to choose from as well as a camping field. The choice is yours when deciding where to stay. The accommodation also has restaurants and pubs within walking distance in the nearby town of Castleton. Perfect after a long day cycling the Great North Trail.
