Adventure Centre on the edge of the Peak District

Mount Cook is a spacious purpose built outdoor centre run on a not-for-profit basis. Completed in 2016, this wonderful centre oozing quality and serenity provides the perfect base for groups of 8 - 180 looking for an exciting break in the Peak District.

The main building sleeps 140 in 34 ensuite bedrooms and houses a large glass-fronted, licensed refectory. There are a variety of meeting spaces available that can be equipped with projectors and screens for all your classroom or conferencing needs. Just outside 10 unique pods, with lighting, USB charging point, heating and ensuite WC each sleep 4 in bunks. Showers are a few steps away in the main building. All bedding is provided. BYO towels. B&B, half or full board. Self catering is available for sole use bookings.

Set in 9 acres of private grounds, there is a wonderful range of exciting outdoor activities on site, plus more off-site. These can be pre-booked for any group of 8 or more.

The Centre boasts direct access to the High Peak Trail & The Pennine Bridleway for walking and cycling, and Black Rocks for climbing. Cromford Mills World Heritage Site, the Heights of Abraham, Chatsworth House and Carsington Reservoir are all close by. While the quaint market town Wirksworth is with walking distance and offers a selection of lovely pubs and restaurants.

Popular with schools, clubs, corporate team building, weddings and gatherings of friends and families. There is ample free parking for up to 40 vehicles just a 2 minute walk away from the main building, as well as electric vehicle charging and accessible parking.

    From A6 at Cromford follow signs to Wirksworth up Cromford Hill, at the top turn right onto Porter Lane (signposted Middleton By Wirksworth and Ashborne) Mount Cook well signposted on the left and shares the main entrance with the Eco and Stone Centres. From Wirksworth follow the main road towards Cromford, after the railway bridge in Bolehill turn left and follow the above instructions.

Did you know Mount Cook is available for Exclusive Hire? Located on the edge of the Peak District, Mount Cook Adventure Centre is the perfect location for large bookings looking for a picturesque backdrop. We can accommodate up to 180 people, making it ideal for large events.

Summer is just around the corner! Are you hosting a big event, like a conference, a charity weekend getaway, or a faith group gathering? Our Exclusive package is perfect for you.

Our built-for-purpose centre has 35 en-suite bedrooms, sleeping 4 each and 10 cosy glamping pods, allowing up to 180 people to stay on-site. Our Main Hall can hold up to 120 people for a variety of activities: quizzes, talks or an evening disco! The Main Hall is complimented by the Small Hall. This hall can fit 35 people, perfect for meetings, workshops and, with the projector, a cosy movie night. We even have a Tipi! A quirky space for your group to gather in.

The commercial kitchen is available for self-catering or bring in your choice of catering company. We can also provide a hearty menu of home-cooked meals with accommodation for your dietary requirements.

Consider adding outdoor activities, the perfect addition to any countryside retreat. Both kids and adults can enjoy the great outdoors with our range of activities and excellent instructors. From archery and Bushcraft to our Via Ferrata and zipline, there’s an activity for all abilities and interests.
Evening activities are also available. Our instructors can guide you along the local footpaths or give you a Bushcraft session around the fire. Want something self-led? We can set you up a campfire with extra wood in our woodland or Dell.
