Inveraray is less than an hour and a half's drive from Glasgow airport and boasts a fine range of shops, pubs and eateries, as well as a magnificent 18th century castle in wooded grounds. There are woodland walks where you might spot red squirrels and roe deer, and, not too far away, are mountains. Access points for Munros in the Arrochar Alps, Glencoe and the Trossachs can be easily reached by car.
