News & Offers from Great Langdale Bunkhouse

Stay at Great Langdale Bunkhouse and explore it’s fantastic location.

April 11th 2022

The Great Langdale Bunkhouse is also dog friendly so your four legged friend can be with you every step of the way!

Local things to do when you stay at Great Langdale Bunkhouse include:

Scrambling in the Stickle Ghyll; climb, jump and adventure in the Stickle Ghyll. Then take a breather and admire the dazzling waterfalls and rockpools carved into the rock.

There is a lot of opportunity for geocaching in the Lake District. Geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunt that is played all over the world. Players use GPS coordinates to locate the treasure boxes and explore the area on the way. It is a game accessible to everyone from the very young to the very old! Just pick a geocach location that suits your ability.

Climbing Jack’s Rake; one of the most popular grade one scrambles in the Lake District beginning at stickle farm. Not for the faint hearted as the climb may take up to three hours and required basic climbing knowledge and equipment.

Trekking up Bowfell; this mountain is the sixth biggest in the Lake District. It is one of the most popular fells in the lake district and for good reason. It has a bit of everything a keen hiker would want and it is described by Alfred Wainwright as “A favourite of all fellwalkers, Bowfell is a mountain that command attention whenever it appears in view. And more than attention, respect and admiration”

At the end of a fantastic day exploring Great Langdale and everything it has to offer, why not relax with a pint in the Stickle Barn Tavern?

Bring your dog to Ambleside in the Lake Distrcit

January 12th 2022

A warm welcome to well behaved dogs- we just love to see their waggy-tails! With magnificent landscape including some of the finest mountain scenery in England and immediate access to fells, we wouldn’t be surprised to see your tails wagging too! 😉

The Lake District is a walker’s paradise and we know that the dog owner’s among you will love to be accompanied by your four-legged friend. We allow guests to bring their dogs with them provided they are never left alone in the room and are not allowed to wander freely around the bunkhouse or surrounding areas. When out walking, dogs should be kept on a lead at all times as the sheep are allowed to freely roam the Langdale Valley. We also ask that you only bring dogs that will not disturb other guests.
