Independent youth hostel in the Dolgoch

Come and experience the peace of this unique location in the remote Tywi valley. A stay in this 17th century farmhouse will take you into an era before electricity, with a log burner for heat. Dolgoch is a traditional simple hostel owned by the Elenydd Wilderness Trust. It has hot showers, a self catering kitchen/dining room and 20 beds in 3 dormitories, solar powered showers and less able accommodation. Private rooms are available. The Lôn Las Cymru (Welsh National Cycle Route) and the Cambrian Way pass nearby and there are many other mountain tracks to explore on foot, by mountain bike or pony. The hostel is ideal for bird-watchers and lovers of solitude and is close to an old drovers' track which leads over the scenic Cambrian mountains for 5 miles to the equally remote and simple Ty'n Cornel Hostel. Why not stay a night in each hostel and follow in the treads of the old drovers?

Dolgoch Hostel family holiday

July 13th 2017

Dolgoch has been owned and run by the Elenydd Hostels Trust since 2007 and in that time many improvements have been made; the gas lighting has been replaced by LED lighting powered by solar panels,  the new hot showers are similarly powered by solar panels. The roof was replaced and the track to the hostel from the road  was resurfaced. Self contained less able accommodation has been installed. Here is the story of Katy Cliffe’s family holiday at Dolgoch in May 2017.
