The Chellington Centre is a 12th Century church which has been transformed into an award-winning, eco-friendly residential and day retreat Centre. It is run by a charity focused on enabling youth and school groups by offering a sole-use stay in an inspiring rural landscape.

Discounted rates are offered to youth & school groups and bursaries may be available for groups who may need support and qualify.

Chellington Centre is ideal for extended family gatherings and business groups who can make the most of the versatile spaces. The Centre sleeps 30 across 7 bedrooms. An extra 6 guests can be accommodated in the Winnie Lounge. Bed linen can be booked in advance at £8 per person and consists of a pillow, pillow slip, duvet, duvet cover, and a fitted sheet. Towels at £5. Alternatively, groups are welcome to bring their own bed linen or sleeping bag.

The main hall is a large versatile space that can provide seating for 80 theatre-style or dining for 66. It also works perfectly as a play, yoga or workshop area. 14 large tables are available and, as a default, 36 chairs.

Outside there's the new camping zone (opened in 2022) with an ultra-modern shower/toilet block, this can accommodate an extra 30 guests in tents (extra charges apply). Outdoor facilities also include a flat playing field, a BBQ, campfire and gardens. Table tennis and table football is included. Please note the indoor accommodation and the camping are both self-contained but only available for one group to book exclusively.

    From 13.75pp (full occupancy). Youth groups: week night £495-£595, weekend £550-650 (Fri & Sat min). Other Groups: week night £630-750, weekend (2 night min) £750-990
  • Booking:

    Preliminary bookings can be made on the chellington.org website. The reservation will be verified and then a £200 deposit (or 20% if booking value is more than £1,500) is required within 5 working days to Confirm the booking.
  • Directions:

    From South, avoid Bedford, by taking A428 to Turvey and then turning to Carlton. At crossroads in the centre of Carlton go straight on towards Felmersham- the 'Felmersham Road' out of the village and at the top of the hill the entrance road to the Centre is on the left (less than ½ mile outside Carlton). There is a long tarmac driveway (10 MPH) and free car park at end of driveway for up to 30 cars. If using Sat Nav use post code MK43 7NA but best to try to avoid Bedford and come via A421 and A426 via Turvey and Carlton. Sat Nav will stop about 100 metres from entrance at “Chellington Village” sign.
  • Public Transport :

    Trains At Bedford. Buses to Carlton from Bedford bus station. On foot from Carlton village: If you come out of the post office, turn left and cross the road, walk for 150m around bend and either take the wooden gate through a small field with old village pond, or walk a further 10m on and then turn right to a path that leads up the hill. The Centre is the church to the left after the hill approx 100m.

Access: There is level access inside the Chellington Centre, all areas are on the ground floor

Bedrooms: All have wide entrance doors and flexible suites to allow single occupancy for a wheelchair user and space for manoeuvring to the bed edge.
