Perfectly positioned in the Saddleworth area on the north western edge of the Peak District National Park in the village of Greenfield, Boarshurst Centre has an enviable range of outdoor pursuits on its doorstep. Field studies, fell walking, rock climbing, caving, cycling, pony trekking, swimming, canoeing, sailing, running, angling, orienteering and even llama trekking are all catered for in the area. Yet the Centre is just 12 miles from Manchester with hourly trains from Greenfield station. Boarshurst Centre is a not-for-profit organisation run by the Saddleworth Outdoor Pursuits Association. The 32 bed centre provides well appointed self catering accommodation for child, youth, adult and family/friend groups who seek to practice outdoor pursuits. Facilities include a well equipped kitchen with large cooker and dishwasher, two bathrooms, a main dining/recreation hall with tables and chairs for 32, laundry with washing machine and tumble dryer and a separate drying/boot room. Outside there's parking for 10 cars including space for a motorhome, a grassed play area and a small garden suitable for tents. Details of local caterers are available if required. BYO duvets/sleeping bags. Dogs welcome by arrangement.

  • Directions:

    From Manchester via Oldham - Follow the signs for the A669 all the way to Greenfield, Saddleworth. At Greenfield train station turn right, but keep on the A669 along Chew Valley Road. Turn left at the King William public house along Kinders Lane and then right at Boarshurst Lane. Follow the road, bending round to the left at the top of the hill, and the centre is on the right. From Manchester via Ashton-under-Lyne - Follow the signs for the A635 until you reach Greenfield along the Manchester Road. As you enter Greenfield you pass the Royal George Public House on the right. Continue along the A635 until you come to The Clarence Public House and mini roundabout. Keep following the A635 signposted to Holmfirth and turn immediately left at St Marys Church at Park Lane until you reach the top. Turn right onto Boarshurst Lane and the centre is on your right. From Holmfirth - Follow the A635 to Greenfield, Saddleworth. Before you enter Greenfield you will see The Clarence Public house in front of you and St Marys Church on the right. Before the church turn immediately left at Park Lane. At the top of the road turn right onto Boarshurst Lane and the centre is on your right.

The Boarshurst Centre offers student discounts for University groups planning a break at our beautiful centre.

Our centre is the perfect base for University groups as well as other social groups. We offer dormitory accommodation for up to 32 people. We are within walking distance to a local train station with links to Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester and beyond. We have welcomed all sorts of University groups including those interested in fell walking, climbing, cycling, mountaineering, music, drama and triathlon. The amazing Saddleworth Moors is on your doorstep. Our centre is located in a rural hamlet – conservation area and provides good quality clean and warm accommodation. There are plenty of local pubs and shops within walking distance of the centre.
